Muhoza et sa troupe
Le Naufrageur, in partnership with Manoir Belle Plage and Les Francouvertes, presents Muhoza et sa troupe, winner of the Festival BleuBleu Award.
Muhoza means “consolation” in Kinyarwanda, the national language of Rwanda. Born in Montreal to a Cameroonian father and a Rwandan mother, Déric Muhoza Eloundou grew up in Ahuntsic in a challenging environment.
The rapper highlights this darkness in his lyrics to honor the strength of those who see themselves reflected in it. His raw and vivid words, carried by a 90s-inspired jazz-rap sound, are performed alongside five talented young musicians from Montreal’s underground scene, most of whom met at CÉGEP de Saint-Laurent.
Active for four years, Muhoza has performed more than thirty shows across Quebec. On stage, he is fearless, encouraging the audience to participate alongside him and his crew. His presence is both a celebration of difficult moments and a promise of hope.
